TWINNING: price and currency display fixed in an existing Shopify shop
Anabel and Maria's shop, twinningshop.de, sells Premium Hair Glow as a subscription and as a one-time purchase, in euros for Germany and Austria and in Swiss francs for Switzerland. The subscription app was showing wrong prices. My part: a targeted correction in the existing shop, verified live. The shop itself was built by others.
The problem
The shop was running and the prices in the Shopify backend were correct. The problem only appeared on the product page: the subscription app brings its own price widget with terms of 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, subscription or one-time purchase, and overwrote the theme's price box after every click.
- No visible saving: the crossed-out compare-at price and the current price became identical, although the discount itself was correct.
- Wrong currency for Swiss customers: compare-at price, daily price and discount badge showed euros instead of francs.
My contribution
- Cause identified: the fault was in the app's script, not in the theme or the Shopify data.
- Small correction in the existing theme: a script watches the price box and, whenever the app writes wrong values, replaces only the displayed text with the values Shopify itself provides: the variant's compare-at price and the currency the customer is shopping in.
- Nothing else touched: prices, variants, cart, checkout and the app stayed as they were. The change is documented in the theme so it can be traced after updates.
Verified live
- 31 August 2026: compare-at price shown correctly for the 1, 3, 6 and 12 month variants, subscription and one-time purchase.
- 4 and 5 September 2026: all four terms clicked through in Swiss francs: compare-at price, daily price and discount badge consistently in CHF. Germany and Austria in euros checked as a control, unchanged and correct.
- Status: the display has been stable in every combination checked since the fix. Formal sign-off by the shop owners is still pending.
