IT service for small businesses in Leipzig: one point of contact instead of a systems house

Computers, network, Microsoft 365, backups, website: when something in your business stops working, you need someone who understands it and gets it done. I'm Ron Portner, based in the east of Leipzig, and I look after freelancers and small businesses in Leipzig and Naunhof, on site or by remote support.

In short: TSAM (Technology Service & More) is Ron Portner's IT service for freelancers and small businesses with around 1 to 10 workstations in Leipzig, the east of Leipzig and Naunhof. I solve concrete IT problems, set up workstations, networks and Microsoft 365, take care of backups and of the technology behind your website and online shop. Billing is by time spent or as a fixed monthly allowance, without needing a big maintenance contract.

Who is this for?

For businesses that are too small for a systems house and too big to do IT on the side: trades, practices, law firms, offices, shops, clubs, freelancers with a handful of workstations. You don't want a 30-page framework contract, you want one person you can call when something's stuck, who tells you beforehand what it costs.

My focus is exactly this size: companies with around 1 to 10 workstations get one direct, reachable contact instead of a ticket system or a framework contract built for a much larger company.

Typical triggers

  • A new computer or a new employee needs setting up: devices, accounts, email, printers, access rights.
  • Wi-Fi or network is slow or keeps dropping, printers can't be found, the router dates from the year you opened.
  • Microsoft 365 has been bought, but Teams, OneDrive and Outlook somehow run side by side.
  • There's no backup, or nobody knows whether the existing one would work in an emergency.
  • Website or online shop show errors, forms don't arrive, the hosting needs to move.
  • Your previous IT person is no longer reachable, and nobody has the login details.

What I actually do

  • Workstations and devices: setting up PCs, notebooks and smartphones, moving to new devices, installing software, creating users and permissions cleanly.
  • Network, Wi-Fi, printers: setting up routers, switches and access points, separating guest Wi-Fi, connecting network printers and NAS, finding faults in the network.
  • Microsoft 365: setting up and tidying accounts, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive. Details on the page Microsoft 365 support.
  • Backups: a backup concept that fits your business, set up and tested once for restore. Not just a hard drive in a cupboard.
  • Website and online shop, technically: fixing errors, updates, hosting migration, forms, email delivery. For ongoing care see WordPress support and Shopify optimisation.
  • IT consulting and digitalisation check: where time gets lost day to day, which software fits, what's really worth it. Short, concrete, with priorities instead of slide decks. Also: automate processes.
  • Everyday security: password manager, two-factor login, updates, securing email and remote access. The basics that prevent most incidents.

How I work

You briefly tell me what isn't working, by phone, WhatsApp or the contact form. Small things I often sort out directly by remote support: you get a link and watch every step. Whatever needs an on-site visit, we do on site. Before larger jobs you get scope and costs in writing.

Billing is by time spent, or as a fixed monthly allowance of hours if you need someone regularly. I document logins, configurations and changes so you can carry on at any time yourself or with someone else. I usually get back to you within 24 hours (on working days).

What I'm not

Not a systems house with a 24/7 hotline, not a data centre operator, not an agency with a project manager in between. If your business needs 40 workstations, its own server landscape and guaranteed response times, I'll tell you honestly in the first conversation and point you to who fits better.

Free initial conversation, about 15 minutes, no obligation. We clarify whether and how I can help you.

Why you can trust me with your IT

I worked in a Leipzig IT systems house with hardware, networks, servers and GDI's ERP software, then two years in CRM, service and IT consulting at mobileBlox in Leipzig. I've been self-employed with TSAM since 2021. So I know both sides: the business that just wants things to work, and the technology behind it.

What I recommend, I run myself: two company websites of my own with hosting, backups, forms and analytics, plus client projects such as the troubleshooting of TWINNING's Shopify shop. No invented references, no client logos I'm not allowed to show.

What you get with me

  • One person, one number. You always talk to me, not to a ticket.
  • Plain explanations. You should know what I did and why.
  • Costs before the work, not after.
  • Documented logins and settings that belong to you.
  • Honest limits: if I can't do something or don't think it's sensible, I say so.

Frequently asked questions about IT service

Do I need a maintenance contract?

No. You can hire me for a single problem and decide afterwards whether you need someone regularly. If you need me more often, you get a monthly allowance of hours with a fixed scope: more predictable than individual billing, but still not a rigid contract.

How quickly are you there when something fails?

I usually get back to you within 24 hours on working days, and for acute outages usually much faster. Many things can be looked at immediately by remote support. I deliberately don't offer a guaranteed round-the-clock response time: I'm one person, not an on-call service.

How does remote support work, and is it secure?

You get a link or a small application from me, start the session yourself and see the whole time what I'm doing. You can end the connection at any time. Without your active approval I have no access to your computer.

What does IT service cost with you?

By time spent, at an hourly rate you know in advance, or as a monthly allowance. For anything beyond a short remote session you get an estimate first. I'll give you exact figures in the first conversation, because they depend on what needs doing.

Do you also sell hardware?

I advise on the choice and set the devices up. You can buy them yourself wherever you like, or I order them in your name, and I recommend what fits you, not what happens to be in stock.

Do you also work for private clients?

Yes, for computers, home network, backups and Microsoft 365 at home. Details on the page IT help for private clients.

What's the difference between IT service and IT consulting?

IT service means: setting something up, repairing it, keeping it running. IT consulting means: clarifying beforehand what actually makes sense, for example which software, which cloud, which processes. With me you get both from one person, and it usually starts with a concrete question rather than a concept.
